Campagnolo Nuovo Gran Sport

Posted September 13, 2009 by in Blog, Campagnolo, Italian, Road | No comments yet

The Campagnolo Nuovo Gran Sport is a groupset manufactured by Campagnolo as their  medium range componentry set of the 1970s.

The name was chosen by taking over those of the first product change in the early 1950s, the Grand Sport.

It was characterized by changing the parallelogram of the rear derailleur in aluminum and steel cage for the pulleys, but mainly by a very characteristic crank  with three arms to support the rings  (specially constructed so) instead of the traditional five. It was produced for the first time in 1974 and experienced a wide user takeup  due mainly to  its good quality units at lower cost than the top of the range of that group (New Record and Super Record). It even saw use by professional cyclists although not in the highest echelons.
